The newest Global Trends report of the US National Intelligence Council was published in January. The report identifies the main directions of the world’s economic, technological and environmental development, and argues that together these trends will make governing and cooperation harder and change the nature of power over the next decades. The result is a fundamental altering of the global landscape. What are the key political conclusions to be drawn, and how deep a change should the Western community be prepared for? How do European views on global political and economic trends differ from those of the US, and are the US and EU currently in a position to draw common conclusions from global challenges?
The report Global Trends: Paradox of Progress will be presented by one of its main authors, Dr. Suzanne Fry, Director of the Srategic Futures Group, National Intelligence Council, Washington.
