FIIA Climate Briefing #7

Taylor Dimsdale is Director of E3G’s Risk and Resilience Program. He works with governments, public institutions, and the private sector to ensure their decision-making is informed by a better understanding of climate risk. He holds an MPA in Public and Economic Policy from the London School of Economics (LSE) and dual bachelor’s degrees in Psychology and English from Syracuse University. Before joining E3G, Dimsdale has worked for the American Institutes for Research (AIR), and as a consultant on green financial services.

Marco Siddi is Montalcini Assistant Professor at the University of Cagliari (Italy) and Senior Research Fellow at FIIA. He focuses primarily on EU-Russia relations and EU energy and climate policy. His recent publications include the monograph ”European Identities and Foreign Policy Discourses on Russia: From the Ukraine to the Syrian Crisis” (Routledge, 2020) and several articles in academic journals, including the Journal of European Public Policy, Politics and Governance, Geopolitics, The International Spectator, German Politics and International Politics. He is a member of the Younger Generation Leaders Network on Euro-Atlantic Security, a platform established after the Ukraine crisis to promote dialogue between Russia and the West. He is also Adjunct Professor at the universities of Helsinki and Tampere, where he teaches courses on EU-Russia relations and EU energy and climate policy.

Emma Hakala is Senior Research Fellow at FIIA, a postdoctoral scholar at the University of Helsinki and a member of the BIOS Research Unit. Her research focuses on environmental security and the geopolitics of climate change. Her previous research has covered, among other things, environmental security cooperation in the post-conflict Western Balkans, the intersections of environmental security and policy coherence, and the integration of climate change into preparedness and security policy in Finland. Hakala is also currently working on the project “Toxic Crimes” at the University of Helsinki, where she explores practices aimed to address the environmental damage of conflicts.
