The Lisbon Treaty brought about important changes in the division of power between the EU institutions. In addition to the European Council also the European Parliament (EP) and the Court of Justice of the European Union belonged to the winners of the Treaty and were provided with new prerogatives. While the European Council has stood in the limelight during the economic crisis, much less attention has been paid to how the EP and the Court of Justice have accommodated to their new powers. This seminar will focus on the most recent institutional developments with respect to the EP and the Court on the basis of two new briefing papers to be published at the FIIA.
