Finns discussed EU affairs lively in the spring of 2010, with topics ranging from climate policy to the financial crisis. The debate over the representation of Finland in EU summits, known as “the plate debacle”, also received a lot of attention.
The Finnish Institute of International Affairs has summed up the discussions about the most central EU topics in its contribution to the pan-European publication EU-27 Watch No. 9.
EU-27 Watch is aimed at shedding light on key issues and challenges of European integration. Institutes from all 27 EU member states as well as from Croatia and Turkey participate in the project. The aim is to give a full comparative picture of debates on European integration and current developments in European politics in each of these countries. The full report will be published at the end of summer 2010.
The Institute for European Politics (IEP) in Berlin coordinates and edits the EU-27 Watch.
