US Trade Policy and the Future of Global Order?

Stan Veuger is a resident scholar in economic policy studies at the American Enterprise Institute (AEI) and a visiting lecturer of economics at Harvard University. He is also the editor of AEI Economic Perspectives, as well as a fellow at the IE School of Global and Public Affairs in Madrid and at Tilburg University in the Netherlands. He was a visiting lecturer of economics at Harvard University during the fall of 2016, 2018, 2019, and 2020. Dr. Veuger’s research has been published in leading academic and professional journals, including the Journal of Monetary Economics, The Quarterly Journal of Economics, and The Review of Economics and Statistics. He is the coeditor, with Michael Strain, of “Economic Freedom and Human Flourishing: Perspectives from Political Philosophy” (AEI Press, 2016). He received a PhD and an AM in economics from Harvard. He also holds degrees from Erasmus University Rotterdam, Universitat Pompeu Fabra, University of London, and Utrecht University.

Saila Turtiainen is Visiting Senior Fellow at FIIA. Previously she worked as Senior Adviser in trade policy at the Confederation of Finnish industries (EK). She has also been Senior Adviser at the Brussels office for the Confederation. Her expertise includes EU free trade agreements, trade defence, US trade policy, including US-China trade war. Saila Turtiainen holds a MA in International business from the Helsinki School of Economics.

Lauri Tähtinen is a historian, writer, analyst and advisor on global affairs based in Washington, D.C.. He has taught widely on subjects ranging from international law to political economy and from globalization to human rights at Brown, Cambridge, Harvard and Helsinki and was a Max Weber Fellow at the European University Institute. Tähtinen received a Ph.D. in History from the University of Cambridge, a Master of Theological Studies from Harvard University and a B.Sc. in International Relations from the London School of Economics.
