Helsinki Security Forum

The annually held Helsinki Security Forum is an international security conference that focuses on significant security issues, particularly those relevant to Finland and its neighboring regions.

Helsinki Security Forum (HSF) is the flagship event of the Finnish Institute of International Affairs (FIIA), bringing around 200 decision-makers, experts, and influencers from around the world to Helsinki. The conference addresses foreign and security policy challenges, issues, and future prospects. HSF focuses on significant topics relevant to Finland and its neighborhood through annually changing themes. HSF was first held in 2022 and will be organized for the fourth time in the fall of 2025.

Helsinki Security Forum 2024

At HSF 2024, the conference discussions revolved around the main theme, ‘Towards a Total Defence of Europe – From Apathy to Action?’ and explored topics such as transatlantic relations, defence capabilities, intelligence, critical infrastructure, and climate security, among others.

Helsinki Security Forum 2023

In HSF 2023, the discussions of the conference included topics such as the era of radical uncertainty in Europe, technology development, economic security, as well as reverberations in the Indo-Pacific of the war in Ukraine.

Helsinki Security Forum 2022

In 2022, the Helsinki Security Forum was held for the first time, and the theme was Northern European Security Redone.
