Brexit state of play: where have we got to and where are we headed?

Anand Menon is director of The UK in a Changing Europe and Professor of European Politics and Foreign Affairs at King’s College London. He has held positions at Sciences Po, Columbia University and NYU. He has written on many aspects of contemporary Europe and is co-editor of the Oxford Handbook of the European Union (OUP, 2012). He is co-author of Brexit and British Politics (Polity, 2017) and author of Europe: The State of the Union (Atlantic Books 2008). He is a member of the Council of the European Council on Foreign Relations and an associate fellow of Chatham House. He is a frequent commentator on national and international broadcast media and has made several radio documentaries on contemporary politics.

Jukka Snell is Professor of European Law at the University of Turku. Professor Snell was educated at the University of Helsinki and at King’s College London, where he was a King’s College London Association and Lord Slynn Foundation Scholar. His area of expertise is European Union law. Professor Snell serves as a Joint Editor for European Law Review and is a Member of the Editorial Board of European Business Law Review. He is the Chair of the Law Panel for Julkaisufoorumi, which is a project set up by the Federation of Finnish Learned Societies to evaluate research quality. Professor Snell’s main research interest is European economic integration.

Juha Jokela is the Programme Director of the European Union research programme at the Finnish Institute of International Affairs. His current research interests include political implications of brexit, differentiated integration (in EU’s external relations), and the EMU reforms. His previous projects and publications include political and security developments in the Arctic, EU’s role in the G20, EU’s Asia policy, Europeanization of foreign policy, and Finland’s EU policy. Previously he has worked in the EUISS as a Senior Associated Analyst and Senior Visiting Research Fellow, Advisor in the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland, and Research Fellow and Director of the Network for European Studies in the University of Helsinki. Dr. Jokela holds a PhD from the University of Bristol (UK).
