Mika Aaltola on leave from FIIA during European Parliament elections campaign

The Finnish National Coalition Party has appointed Mika Aaltola, Director of the Finnish Institute of International Affairs, as a candidate in the 2024 European Parliament elections. Dr Aaltola will be on annual holiday when the campaign begins. He will apply for a leave of absence for the duration of the official candidacy.

In Dr Aaltola’s absence, Deputy Director Mikael Mattlin will assume the duties of the Director.
