Mika Aaltola on leave from FIIA duties during presidential campaign

Dr. Mika Aaltola, Director of the Finnish Institute of International Affairs, has on 3 August, 2023 announced his availability to run as a candidate in Finland’s presidential election of 2024. He will be on leave from his duties at FIIA. Should he be appointed as a candidate in the presidential election, he will request a leave of absence from the Board of FIIA for the duration of the campaign.

During Mika Aaltola’s absence from his duties at FIIA, Deputy Director Samu Paukkunen will assume his responsibilities.
