Leading Researcher Sinikukka Saari from the Finnish Institute of International Affairs has been appointed to the Scientific Advisory Board for Defence (MATINE) for a three-year term. The new MATINE for the period 2025–2027 was appointed by the Finnish Government in its session on 28 November 2024.
At the Institute, Saari works in the Finnish Foreign Policy, Northern European Security and NATO programme and leads the cross-cutting theme Great Power Politics and Foresight.
MATINE is a network of defence experts situated in the administrative brand of the Ministry of Defence. Its mission is to promote research and collaboration on national defence. It consists of 30 members from different fields of science and authorities relevant to the work of MATINE.
