How Emerging States are Re-shaping the Global Order?
The seminar will focus on the impact of BRICS-countries on the future share of global order. The cross-cutting theme is the role of soft power in the emergence of Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa. Many of the emerging powers are now focusing on the soft power capabilities. One fundamental change is taking place in the global media and political persuasion. What types of actors are BRICS in the new world order? How the global shift influences local political contestations? How the new contours of power change the parameters of underlying cultural conflicts? How the realm of global communication reflects the power transformation?
The seminar is organized in cooperation with the project “Media systems in flux: The challenge of BRICS countries” funded by the Academy of Finland and based in the University of Tampere, see http://uta.fi/cmt/tutkimus/BRICS.html
