The new Biden Administration is shaping its relationship with Russia in the midst of Putin’s recent military moves near on the border with Ukraine, actions against key opposition figures and confirmation of Russia’s attempted interference in the 2020 US Presidential election. America’s European allies have also sought to take a more assertive line towards the Kremlin, but there are differences between the two sides of the Atlantic over the correct mix of policies. In his presentation, Ambassador Fried will give an assessment of the Biden Administration’s latest sanctions against Putin’s Russia, discuss the larger policy context, and address how the transatlantic community deals with Putin.
