Gregory Smith is a policy analyst at RAND and a research fellow at the Finnish Institute of International Affairs. At RAND, his research focuses on understanding the impact of emerging technologies on national security, with a particular focus on artificial intelligence. His recent projects include a long-running crisis simulation and research series to identify and mitigate emerging national security risks from the most advanced artificial intelligence models. He has also led research on the U.S. defense industrial base, co-production of advanced munitions with U.S. partners, and the development of industrial policy for advanced technology.

He previously earned a bachelors in history at Princeton University and J.D. at Columbia Law School.
