Topi Juga is a Research Fellow in the European Union and Strategic Competition research programme at the Finnish Institute of International Affairs and in the research project War Economy in Finland and Europe in the 2030s. Juga is currently preparing his doctoral dissertation in political history at the University of Helsinki. In his dissertation, Juga examines the formation of Finland’s EU policy during the first years of membership in 1995–1999.
Prior to joining FIIA, Juga worked on EU institutional issues and EU decision-making at the Government EU Affairs Departmentof the Prime Minister’s Office of Finland and at the European Parliament. He has also lived in Germany, from where, alongside his doctoral research, he wrote articles on EU policy and Germany for Suomen Kuvalehti. Juga has also completed the Europaeum Scholars’ Programme, a two-year policy and leadership course for thirty doctoral candidates of the Europaeum University Network. The Programme included eight intensive modules to European universities (Oxford, Brussels, Budapest, Kraków, Barcelona, Geneva and Helsinki / Lammi).
