Finnish Institute of International Affairs condemns the harassment of researchers in social media

The researchers of Finnish Institute of International (FIIA) are subject to harassment on social media and it especially increases due to escalation of global issues. Finnish Institute of International Affairs (FIIA) strongly condemns harassment and threatening of researchers in social media. FIIA does not tolerate derogatory or unlawful content and commentary.

FIIA fully supports its researchers in cases of being subject to harassment. FIIA researchers comment and offer analysis on current issues based on their research and expertise. FIIA experts, like all individuals, have the right to freedom of opinion and expression.

FIIA welcomes fact-based and appropriate critical discussion on its social media channels. Defamation of a researcher’s persona is not part of a good discussion culture and may in some cases lead to a report of an offence.
